I was introduced to “value” words barely more than a year ago. The concept was introduced to me by @annevanston during a Women’s Leadership Conference hosted by AMA #AMAWLC in @MarriottSF. Ann suggested instead of creating New Year’s resolutions that rarely stick, create one value word and stick to that word all year.
I have faithfully practiced my value word EVERY single day of 2019. I understand the merit in a “value” word and I hope you will as well. I recently experienced the euphoria true Gratitude can impart on your life if you are so inclined. A colleague extended a kindness I had not requested nor ever thought to ask for. This person was beyond courteous and service in her manner even though she was inclined to receive $0 for her act of random kindness. The emotion that welled up inside of me was so warm and light. This was the first time I felt true gratitude. Nothing was expected and kindness was given without expectation. The mutual exchange of kindness and gratitude was ethereal. We live on an amazing planet if we just take a moment to SEE.
Since this post is near to Veteran’s Day I would like to express my most sincere Thank You to all of those who have, are and will serve this country. I cannot imagine the sacrifice you and your families make to ensure the continued safety of this country and our ongoing liberties. God Bless America!

This photo is a piece of artwork I purchased while I was living on the Island of Maui, Hawaii in 2013. I saw the advertisement and immediately knew I had to have this piece. I am not sure why I was so drawn to it. 7 years later I have a clear understanding of why this beautiful art was brought to my path. I have always needed to practice Gratitude on a more grand scale than I ever have. Now when I glance to the wall in my dining room where this piece of art resides I am reminded of one of the reasons I am here. To practice Gratitude on a deeper level.
